The time required for retouching photos, and therefore the price, varies depending on a number of factors. For example, a small amount of damage to a face is likely to take more time to repair than extensive damage to an image's background. Repairs to a striped shirt take more time to a solid-colored shirt. If the retouched image is going to printed in a book or magazine it will require more attention to detail than an image that is going to be viewed on a screen. You get the idea.
This creates a bit of a problem. On the one hand, you want to know how much everything is going to cost before you commit to the project. On the other hand, I want to offer you a fair price that reflects the amount of work required. I don't want to charge you $50 for a photo that ends up taking me ten minutes to correct. Nor do I want to charge you $20 for one that takes ten hours.
So here is how I work my pricing. The prices listed on this site for scanning services and prints are firm prices. The prices listed for correcting, retouching and restoring photos are estimates based on my experience. You can use these estimates to get a fairly accurate idea of the total cost of your project. When I receive your original photos or scans I will assess them. If I determine they will cost more than the prices listed on this site, I will contact you with a firm quote before I do any work. If the quote is outside your budget, I'll return the photos.
